Tattered Wings

I love this photo that I took in the garden of the butterfly with its tattered wings. It inspired me to write a poem, which I then wanted to display with the photo. I combined the photo, poem and a piece of my own background paper, created from another photo, to create something mixed media. I love being able to combine photography, writing and craft in this way.

Tattered Wings

It is with tattered wings I now fly, but once my wings were new
Once upon a time I flew, higher than the moon

Now my torn wings hold me back, keep me close to the earth
My feet on the ground, where tears fall unheard without a sound

I cannot repair these wings, instead I sit and watch my little world go by
Until I lay down my head, my last journey at an end - Goodbye
